Eva is making me fail school. Surprise? I think not.

Recently I completed my midterm lab project for one of my Speech and Language courses.

The idea behind the project was to outline a speech related goal to work on with a toddler (age of my choice) and implement a lesson plan with that toddler. I was to submit my lesson plan for review and once it received a green light, I was to go ahead and video tape my presentation of my lesson plan. Thinking this a breeze, since I have a willing 3 year old at my disposal to practice aforementioned lesson plans on, I chose to create a lesson plan related to a speech and language goal that Eva and I have been working on - rhyming. It seemed wise, since I already had begun teaching Eva about rhymes and I already had more than enough creative ideas for lesson plans. I proceeded to write out my midterm lesson plan and submitted it to my Professor.

I got a crappy grade.

A really crappy grade.

Among some of her comments, the main theme I noticed was this: 'Given the age group you have identified I am not sure why you chose rhyming as your goal. Three year olds' cannot do this. You need to pick an age appropriate goal.'

Whoops.

Looks like I failed to mention that I have a VERY precocious -no, not precious, precocious - 3 year old who is extremely far ahead (at least by my course materials measure) in speech and language development.

C'mon Eva, you're making your Mommy look bad. Slow up a little, k?

  1. BAHAHAHA! That's awesome! Doesn't surprise me at all, though! You've done such a good job raising such a smart, sweet girl. :)

  3. WOW! Well, it shows that you are taking what you are learning in school and applying it at home with success...even if it shows she is ahead of the "standard" so it doesn't work out for your project.
